Myths about Brain Development

Myth 2: If there is a damage in one part of brain, it will damage the whole brain functioning

Early researchers may believe on this fact but now it is no longer true. Current researches show that brain works through spatial specialization. It means that different brain regions have different functions. Let’s say that a part of your brain which specializes in hearing is severely damaged, you would still be able to see with your eyes, as vision is controlled by a different section of the brain.

Myth 3: Intelligence can’t be improved as we can’t grow new brain cells

Like other muscles, our brain also has muscles. If we do workout and improve our bodily functions, then of course we can do brain workouts and improve the brain functioning and hence improve our intelligence. Already, many researches have been done and clearly demonstrate that specific type of mental exercises can improve our ability to think, remember and learn by rewiring the neural circuits to function more efficiently. Specifically, researches show that cognitive leisure activities (such as reading, playing music, solving puzzles, playing physical and mental games) can improve the functioning of brain.

Though, there are lots and lots of myths about brain functioning but the above three are the most popular which people still have in their mind today.

So, go beyond your myths and rewire your brain to unleash the strength beneath!!!
