Before she could say anything, the boy ran after the fish. It got stuck in the mud.
Babu come back, the unfair girl shouted.
But Babu was already in a knee-deep water and he almost caught the fish, but it slipped out of his hand and dived into the river. Suddenly the boy felt the current and before he could realize the Ganges embraced him…he was almost senseless.
As soon as the river engulfed her brother she dived after him and got the shirt end of her Babu…Then with all the force she swum against the current and after ten minutes she managed to get to the shore holding her brother with one hand.
Tired they took the road to their home. Didi don’t tell Mom anything about it, ok…but our wet dresses will say everything. Let’s see.
Something stuck under her feet when she was raising her brother from the water. Her right toe was bleeding. But she was more anxious about her brother’s health…if he catches cold.
“Oh ma Kali, keep my Babu well”. That’s all she was thinking then.

After 10’o clock Babu became restless from high fever and their mom started crying. Their father went to their neighbor Mr. Ghose, who was a doctor. Dr. Ghose came and after observing the condition of the patient, said:
I don’t think it’s very serious…well let him have these two tablets and watch. Within an hour or so situation will improve…well, if not then call me again.
